Overview
We are looking for Examination Invigilators to support our students taking their examinations on a part-time sessional basis. This includes internal examinations and external GCSE examinations. Examinations are normally scheduled in November, December, February and March, with the main run from April to June. The right candidate will be able to understand and apply detailed written instructions, maintain high levels of confidentiality and use their own initiative to respond to unexpected situations.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with the setting up of examination rooms
* Upholding the rules and regulations of the examination room as per awarding body guidance and ensuring full compliance by all parties
* Dealing with queries raised by the students
* Distribution and collection of examination papers
* Facilitating access arrangements for candidates, for example as a reader or scribe (full training will be provided)
* Ensuring that the school's policy and procedures are followed closely throughout the examination process
* Ensuring all the students are calm, prepared and ready to provide their best work
* Able to empathise and deal with stressed teenagers who may behave out of character, in a calm and confident manner
* Excellent time management skills
* Enjoy working as part of a team
Qualifications / Requirements
* Previous experience as an examination invigilator would be an advantage, but not essential since we provide full training on JCQ regulations and the school's examination policy and procedures.
* Ability to commit to potentially working full days, 8am until 4pm, several weeks at a time, with gaps when exams are not in session. Hours and days vary depending on need.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and respond to unexpected situations with empathy and calm, while displaying confidence and authority.
Hours and Pay
£12.60 per hour (including holiday pay allowance). Hours: Adhoc casual hours, Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm, term time only.
