Research Associate in PEDOT:PSS Microelectrodes (Fixed Term)
The purpose of this role is to support and extend the research ongoing in the Bioelectronics Laboratory on implantable electrophysiology devices. The role holder must have expertise in design, fabrication and characterisation of PEDOT:PSS microelectrode arrays. Prior experience with electrophysiology in rodents is desirable. The role holder should have a strong interest in working with an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and clinicians to develop and translate novel healthcare devices. The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, UK.
Responsibilities
* Research and scholarship
* Effectively work with a team of scientists, engineers and clinicians to develop and translate novel implantable devices.
* Lead technology validation in rodent models, including performing surgery for implant placement, acquisition and analysis of electrophysiology data.
* Write up research work for presentation and publication.
* Continually update knowledge and understanding in field or specialism.
* Teaching and learning support
* Assist in the supervision of undergraduate/graduate student projects in the area of neurotechnology.
* Liaison and networking
* Build internal and external contacts and participate in networks for the exchange of information and to form relationships for future collaboration.
* Planning and organising
* Plan and manage own research activity in collaboration with others. Contribute in planning of joint research projects led by Principal Investigator. Assist in the preparation of reports to funding body.
Qualifications
The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are a PhD in Engineering or a related discipline, extensive experience in rodent brain electrophysiology, including surgery and data acquisition/analysis and histology experience.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
