Practitioner for Early Intervention in Psychosis Service

Join our dedicated Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team and help transform the lives of young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis. We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and recovery‑focused Practitioner to provide high‑quality assessment, care coordination, and therapeutic support within a specialist multidisciplinary community mental health service.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and partner agencies to deliver evidence‑based interventions that promote recovery, social inclusion, and improved wellbeing. You will manage a caseload, contribute to risk assessment and care planning, and support individuals to achieve their personal goals in education, employment, relationships, and independent living.
The successful candidate will have experience working within mental health services, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of recovery‑oriented practice. You may come from a nursing, social work, or occupational therapy background and will be committed to delivering person‑centred care in line with national EIP standards.
You will be provided with excellent individual and team supervision and support.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for a defined caseload of patients, age 14‑65 years with regular supervision and guidance from a designated supervisor.
You will ensure compliance with approved Trust clinical nursing policies/procedures and the Trust's supervision policy and with the Mental Health Act (1983) and Mental Capacity Act regulations/procedures and Code of Practice.
You will be personally responsible and professionally accountable for a service user caseload within the community, focusing on service users with or suspected of having a First Episode Psychosis (FEP). To provide high quality care and treatment in conjunction with other professionals through the Trust's agreed multi‑disciplinary assessment and treatment care programmes.
You will participate as an active member of the multi‑disciplinary Early Intervention Service team in developing high quality and innovative services to service users with First Episode Psychosis.

This is a fixed‑term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
* Registered Mental Health Nurse / OT / Social Worker, Valid Registration with the appropriate professional body e.g. NMC / SWE / HCPC
Experience
* Relevant experience working with clients with psychosis in Adult and/or CAMH services
* Knowledge of current primary care issues
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
* Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
* The ability to prioritise & meet deadlines; organise work of self and others; supervise, teach & assess; self‑motivated with the ability to motivate others; effective resource management.
* Skills in managing complex cases.
* Understanding of current policy and guidance relating to Early Intervention in Psychosis services.
Personal Qualities / Attributes
* Able to communicate effectively at different levels of the organisation and with staff, patient/service users, visitors or external organisations both verbally and in writing in the exchange of highly complex, sensitive or contentious information which may require the use of negotiating and/or persuasive skills.
* Able to analyse and assess situations and to interpret potentially conflicting situations and determine appropriate action, where there is a range of options and judgement is required.
* Able to overcome barriers to understanding where there are physical or mental disabilities.
