Fancy a roadmap to becoming Director after being given the time to actually get your feet under the table rather than being overloaded from the start? You’d be coming in as Head of Production initially in a relatively “traditional” manufacturing, fabrication and assembly business that actively wants to make improvements and changes to allow them to modernise. Once you get your feet under the table, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your remit, spanning into Operations and then into Senior Director. It’s a new role with a clear brief – take control of production, get the basics right and start making improvements. It sounds a bit cliché but there’s a lot of ‘low hanging fruit’ to get you going, and over the next few years there are big plans in the business to introduce multiple aspects of automation. You’ll have autonomy over how to shape the function, likely done by training, development and restructuring, but that determination lies with you. You’ll obviously be running the day to day stuff across the shop floor (production, fabrication and assembly), and they need someone hands on and present, so if you prefer to be sat in the office then this one probably isn’t quite right. If however, you’re happy to roll your sleeves up every now and then and prefer a more “boots on the ground” approach, it’s probably worth applying. A summary of the things that might interest you the most: * A clean slate with no predecessor to unpick, you get to set the direction * Recent investment into equipment and systems including a new ERP rollout already underway to help join the dots across operations * Autonomy to shape the function without a lack of support, the MD welcomes changes and actively wants someone to make some * Medium term progression once you’ve stabilised and improved production there’s a clear roadmap to Director You’re likely to be in a similar position now, ideally with experience of a more “traditional” engineering environment based on the fact that they’re not up to the likes of aerospace standards and need someone familiar with a relatively manual operation. You’d be onsite in Bolton, with a salary initially looking like £65-70k, though there may be some movement for someone ideal. Get in touch for more info
