Available Start Dates: 5th January, 12th January and 26th January 2026
Contract: Full-time, 4-month temp (via agency), weekly pay
(Extension or permanent offer may be possible depending on business needs.)
About the Role Were recruiting HGV Recovery Drivers to work for one of the UKs leading breakdown and recovery organisations.
Youll be:
Attending roadside breakdowns of cars and vans
Recovering and transporting vehicles to garages or customers homes
Providing calm, reassuring customer service in stressful situations
Working outdoors in all weather, independently and professionally
No multi-drops. No loading bay queues. Every day and every breakdown is different.
We are a specialist agency for the Breakdown & Recovery industry and have worked with this client for over 8 years, so we can give you a clear picture of the role and what to expect.
Who Were Looking For We welcome:
Experienced HGV Class 2 drivers
Newly passed Class 2 drivers with strong large vehicle/commercial experience
This role suits drivers who:
Enjoy helping people, not just moving freight
Want variety and problem-solving instead of repetitive routes
Can stay calm and professional when customers are stressed or worried
Requirements Licence:
HGV Class 2 (LGV C) or above
Max 6 points for minor offences
No DD / DR / CD endorsements
Driver Cards & Compliance:
Valid Driver CPC
Digital tachograph card
Good knowledge of Drivers Hours and compliance
Experience & Skills:
Prefer 1-year HGV driving experience however will accept freshly passed HGV drivers who have previous experience in either 7.5T vehicles or buses / coaches
Confident dealing with the public
Able to work in all weather conditions
Self-motivated and calm under pressure
Training Provided: Full paid induction and training Week 1 Birmingham: classroom and practical training
Week 2 Walsall: further technical and operational training
Week 3 Local depot: on-the-job training and mentoring
All travel, accommodation and food expenses are paid during the first two weeks.
Shifts: 4 on / 4 off day shift rota
Average 40 hours per week over the year
Hours: 08:00 19:00 (11 paid hours including breaks)
Overtime available at end of shifts and on extra days
Pay: First 12 weeks:
Basic: £14.88 per hour
Overtime: £16.27 per hour
Estimated OTE: £33,000 per year
After 12 weeks worked (overtime rate increases in-line with Agency Workers Regulations (AWR)):
Basic: £14.88 per hour
Overtime: £28.00 per hour
Estimated OTE: £35,000 per year
Some Recovery Patrols can earn £40,000+ depending on hours worked and incentives.
