A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced and seasoned Lead Business Finance Controller on a fixed term contract basis to support the delivery of the strategy of Schindler UK&I. Based at our Addlestone Office, working on a hybrid basis, this role will report to the Head of Finance & Controlling, and as the face of Finance to the operational counterparts, this role is responsible for effective financial management, reporting, analysis, and embedding of robust controls & processes to ensure integrity and clarity around financial status of the business operations. This is a full time and fixed term contract role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Ownership of the business P&L, cash flow and balance sheet, ensuring cash is maximised, and transactions are accounted correctly according to IFRS standards and Schindler company ONs
2. Ensure the accuracy of financial records, compliance, business financial plans and forecasts and manage monthend processes, including P&L and Balance Sheet management
3. Provide full transparency and data required for external and internal auditors
4. Maintain balance sheet integrity and promptly communicating and log any risks and opportunities to Head of Finance & Controlling
5. Ensure debt is controlled and understood and proactively work with credit controllers to achieve targets and KPIs
6. Develop a deep understanding of the business performance and able to articulate to others with clear commentary, by analysing income and expenses by business, product lines and cost centres, and monitor variance against budgets and forecasts
7. Be a true business partner who supports and challenges the business daily to drive results and continuous improvement, providing commercial and financial decision support; challenge and insight into business profitability to drive future performance
8. Serve as the subject matter expert for any finance-controlling and operational finance activities, providing expert insight into financial performance to guide decision-making
9. Work closely with and support the rest of the Head of Finance & Controlling teams (Business Controller peers, Order to Cash)
10. Support business leaders to deliver contractual obligations by identifying over and under-delivery, performing root cause analysis, and making recommendations
11. Develop customer relationships to support thriving commercial and financial negotiations regarding variable revenue, rebids and variations orders and driving contractual uplifts. This could include modelling support for Sales negotiations
12. Work with business stakeholders to provide relevant insight and formulate strategies to drive business performance and revenue, profit improvement, and cash generation initiatives to achieve excellence in financial results
13. Must be willing to listen to stakeholders and build a lasting relationship, remotely and in person as they require, and to create positive outcomes for the business
Candidate Requirements:
14. Financial controlling and financial management experience
15. Proven track record of managing multiple objectives, working with multi-site teams and a matrix organisation
16. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across the organisation
17. Proven track record of delivering process improvements projects and delivering savings
18. Worked with internal audit and supporting statutory audit requirements and needs
19. At least 7 years finance experience and Finance professional qualification, with 5yrs, such as CIMA or ACCA
20. Proficient use of Excel. SAP experience and Power BI will be highly regarded
21. Construction, Services, and related industries required
22. The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
23. Outstanding communication skills, with customer service etiquette
24. Leadership skills to build, direct and develop a skilled and a collaborative team
25. Excellent time management, planning and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
