One of our aerospace clients is looking for Control and Service Segment Engineers to join their team
This initiative is an 12-18 month contract opportunity. This role will be on hybrid schedule in the client's office in Edinburgh (flexibility considered).
Overview:
The Control Segment Engineer focuses on the design, deployment, and operational readiness of the satellite control facility for a QKDSat mission—building ESA‑compliant mission control infrastructure, configuring mission operations software such as SCOS‑2000, and integrating mission planning, flight dynamics, and related applications.
In parallel, the Service Segment Engineer is responsible for designing and maintaining the secure service architecture that enables satellite‑based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), ensuring robust connectivity between OGRs, the MCC, ISOC, and end‑user networks, while also driving programme management, requirements development, vendor coordination, and hands‑on hardware testing and setup.
We are looking for:
Experience with satellite mission control systems, specifically SCOS-2000.
Strong Linux system administration skills.
Experience deploying mission-critical infrastructure from scratch.
Understanding of satellite operations and ECSS processes.
