Cardiff Metropolitan University is embarking on an exciting journey to procure and implement a new student records system - an initiative that will shape the future of how we support our students.As part of this transformational programme, were recruiting both a Lead Technical Architect and Programme Lead to play pivotal roles in delivering and shaping this change. Were now looking for a Lead Technical Architect to ensure its successful delivery. As the subject matter expert, youll guide the IT technical implementation of the new system, from shaping procurement decisions, through to implementation and delivery. Using your experience, youll provide expert guidance and technical oversight across all systems linked to the student record systems programme of work, whilst creating an architectural framework that supports future innovation and a culture of learning and cohesiveness. Working collaboratively with the Programme Manager and cross functional teams, youll ensure the system meets current needs and those of the emerging future. Youll collaborate with stakeholders including academic staff, administrative teams, project managers, and external vendors, to define non-functional requirements and ensure alignment with business needs. As part of your role, youll Lead the technical architecture design including system integration, data models, security protocols, and infrastructure. Provide technical and strategic direction across systems within or integrated with the student records programme. Oversee migration of legacy data, ensuring data integrity, minimal disruption, and adherence to data protection regulations. Produce and deliver presentations, reports and other documentation on digital solutions and strategies Take responsibility for team management, development, and well-being, offering initiatives that foster continuous professional growth for themselves and team members. What youll bring With demonstrable experience as a Technical Architect overseeing enterprise-level system implementations in complex organisational environments, youll bring a proven ability to engage effectively with business representatives and senior stakeholders. Youll actively listen, offer informed guidance, and build strong, trusted relationships at all levels. Youll have led the technical aspects of large-scale projects, including risk mitigation and stakeholder engagement, and possess a solid technical foundation with deep understanding of the systems development life-cycle and the complexities that arise from initial concept through to delivery and support.In addition, youll bring: Experience leading cross-functional teams or contributing to enterprise-wide IT strategies. Aptitude for problem-solving, with knowledge of problem-solving methodologies. Ability to analyse complex problems, facilitate workshops, and produce clear architectural designs from conceptual to detailed levels.
