Overview
The Export Advisor provides a professional, commercially focused export service to Cromwell’s UK and international customers. The role manages a portfolio of international accounts, with potential to grow into territory ownership, driving customer retention, revenue growth, and margin performance. It is responsible for accurate quoting, order processing, and resolving issues within agreed SLAs. As part of the Export – Inside Sales team, the Export Advisor helps position Cromwell as the easiest company to work with globally through responsive service, strong ownership, and commercial awareness.
Responsibilities
Account Management & Commercial Development
* Manage a portfolio of named international customer accounts across multiple territories
* Build strong, long-term relationships to drive retention and growth
* Identify new sales opportunities within existing accounts
* Conduct proactive outbound activities to progress quotes and develop the pipeline
* Upsell and cross-sell relevant product categories
* Research and qualify new business opportunities where required
* Work towards revenue and margin growth objectives, with formal sales targets introduced as the role evolves
* Contribute to achieving team commercial performance metrics
* Stay informed on product updates, pricing policies, and competitor activity
Export Operations & Customer Service Excellence
* Deliver a best-in-class international customer experience with a single-point-of-contact mindset
* Prepare accurate and timely quotations in line with pricing policies and agreed SLAs
* Proactively progress open quotations to improve conversion
* Enter and manage customer orders accurately within business systems
* Generate temporary product codes where required
* Advise customers of stock availability issues and proactively offer suitable alternatives
* Liaise with external suppliers to source products and substitutes
* Ensure compliance with export procedures and documentation requirements
* Manage customer complaints through to satisfactory resolution
* Maintain accurate CRM records and customer data

* Revenue and Margin Growth (formalised targets to be introduced as the role evolves)

Essential Skills and Competencies
* Proven experience in Internal Sales, Export, or Customer Service environment
* Strong commercial awareness and sales capability
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
* Experience using CRM systems
* Problem‑solving capability with a proactive mindset
* Ability to build trust and influence customer decisions
Desirable
* Experience within export/international trade
* Understanding of export documentation and shipping processes
* Additional language capability
* Experience working within an SLA-driven environment
