We’relooking for aSpatial and Strategic Planning Leadto join our Developer Services team and help shape the future of infrastructure planning across our region. This is a high-impact role whereyou’lluse your expert knowledge of the planning system to influence major infrastructure projects and ensure Anglian Water’s interests are protected and represented.
You’llbe at the forefront of responding to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and Transport and Works Act Orders, acting as a statutory consultee and key contact for developers and stakeholders. Your work will help ensure water and water recycling infrastructure can support future growth, while driving strategic insight across the business.
What will you be doing as a Spatial and Strategic Planning Lead?
1. Lead Anglian Water’s response to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and Transport and Works Act Orders
2. Secure protective provisions and ensure water and water recycling demands are clearly understood
3. Act as the primary contact for external developers and internal stakeholders
4. Coordinate input from subject matter experts across the business to mitigate risks and realise opportunities
5. Maintain up-to-date intelligence on external infrastructure projects to inform long-term planning
6. Represent Anglian Water at examinations, enquiries, and relevant industry forums
7. Build strong relationships with internal teams including Strategic Asset Planning
8. Support the wider Developer Services team with planning insight andexpertise
What does it take to be a Spatial and Strategic Planning Lead?
9. Degree in a planning-related discipline (essential)
10. Postgraduate planning qualificationsand/or CharteredMember/Associate of the Royal Town Planning Institute(essential)
11. Proven experience in town and country planning, particularly development management
12. Experience in planning policy and influencing development through the planning process
13. Strong advocacy, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
14. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and think strategically
15. Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and presentation
