This post is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, experienced pharmacist with strategic vision, drive and excellent clinical and leadership skills to work as a Principal Pharmacist in Haematology & Oncology.
As one of the Principal Pharmacists in Haematology & Oncology for King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the post holder will have leadership and management responsibility for the development and delivery of effective pharmacy services for haematology & oncology, including supporting the clinical delivery of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) within these clinical specialities. The focus of the post is on ensuring the provision of high quality, safe, comprehensive (clinical, supply, financial and operational) pharmaceutical services to the Division, in accordance with Trust priorities.
Main duties of the job
The focus of the post is on ensuring the provision of high quality, safe, comprehensive (clinical, supply, financial and operational) pharmaceutical services, in accordance with the priorities set by the post holder, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Services, General Manager and Clinical Director(s). The post holder is responsible for
1. Acting as a specialist role model and as an expert in haematology & oncology and demonstrating an advanced level of knowledge in the field
2. Ensuring the safe, efficacious and cost-effective use of drugs within the Care Group
3. Ensuring a high level of clinical input across the Care Group
4. Ensuring the daily operations of the Pharmacy haematology & oncology team meet the needs of service users
5. Acting as the joint pharmacy lead for haematology & oncology services
6. Developing and implementing guidelines and policies for the use of medicines
7. Regular financial reporting, drug usage and expenditure forecasting
8. Developing the pharmacy service to the Care Group
9. Teaching and training within the Trust and externally
10. Initiating and coordinating research and development activity within the specialist area
11. Identifying a vision for the delivery of pharmaceutical services to the Care Group
12. Identifying and promoting best practice
