Offer description

Overview

East Riding County Council are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Team Manager to join our newly restructured Fostering Service.

The service is experiencing a period of growth and as one of four Fostering Team Leaders, you will be expected to supervise and oversee a busy team of social workers with the objective of providing an effective, high quality service to foster carers, children and partners.

The role includes management of the support of both Mainstream carers, whilst contributing to the recruitment and retention of foster families. We are therefore looking for candidates who can demonstrate impeccable knowledge of Fostering Minimum Standards, Safeguarding and Fostering Legislation and Care Planning Regulations.

Responsibilities

* Supervise and oversee a busy team of social workers to provide an effective, high‑quality service to foster carers, children and partners.
* Support Mainstream carers and contribute to the recruitment and retention of foster families.
* Support the Area Manager in the continuous development of the service and may be given responsibility for specialist service areas and delivery of key service targets and objectives.
* Contribute to developing service areas that position East Riding fostering service at the forefront of best practice.
* Collaborate with agencies across the East Riding of Yorkshire footprint with a flexible, relational approach and a commitment to high standards while remaining child centred.

Qualifications and experience

* Relevant social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent) and current Social Work England registration.
* A relevant management qualification or a commitment to work towards one is essential.
* Experience in managing and supervising social workers is highly desirable; applications from fostering senior practitioners and practice teachers seeking career progression are welcome.

Safeguarding

We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and other recruitment checks.

Our practice model

Our model

'You can, I can, We can'

We have created a bespoke practice model that reflects and connects our vision, our value base and our behaviour as one East Riding of Yorkshire approach to working with children, young people and their families, which is nurtured and grown from within East Riding of Yorkshire CYPSSS and owned by our workforce.

We remain committed to Signs of Safety as a practice framework, but this will be set within a much wider, values based, model of practice that clearly connects Signs of Safety with the East Riding value base, and our overall approach to making and sustaining relationships with children, families, and communities.

Without a well embedded model, there is nothing to centre our practice on to ensure that, while the work may be different, all our teams are grounded in the same values, beliefs, theories and approaches. A well-developed practice model helps to create a common language for the service and enables everyone to understand how we go about doing the right things, in the right way and for the right reasons for children and their families.

We are a small team and positive relationships are valued. You will also be working with agencies across the East Riding of Yorkshire footprint, so it is essential that you can work effectively with others with a flexible and adaptable approach in a relational based approach while remaining at all times child centred.

How to apply

If you are meet all of these qualities, have the right value base, and are an innovative practitioner, then what are you waiting for? We are hugely ambitious for the future and have a real desire to provide a service to foster families and fostered children that is second to none! Apply now and make a difference.

To apply for this post, you must have a relevant social work qualification and current Social Work England registration. If you would like further information before applying, please email Jennifer.rowan@eastriding.gov.uk with your preferred contact number and someone from the management team will get back to you.

We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.
