We're proud to be a top 50 UK university (Guardian University Guide 2024), with top-quality facilities, inclusive culture, and our vibrant, ever-changing city.
The University of Sunderland is in an exciting phase of its development with a new vision and redefined strategic ambitions designed to take advantage of the ever-changing higher education landscape at home and overseas.
As one of only five new Medical Schools in England, the University of Sunderland School of Medicine welcomed its first cohort of students in September 2019. This is a very exciting time for our University, our NHS partners, and the City/Region therefore, we are pleased to announce that we are recruiting a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Anatomy.
With a track record of excellence in health education spanning almost 100 years, the University is well placed to contribute to the expansion of medical training and help to address the chronic shortage in some medical specialties including general practice in the Northeast. We have a significant focus on widening access and will deploy our expertise to ensure we recruit students from the communities they will ultimately serve.
Our programme will allow medical students to learn within our state-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces, including outstanding laboratory facilities, the latest in high fidelity clinical simulation equipment and some of the best hospital and GP settings in England.
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lecturer in Anatomy to join our Medical School. You will be joining an established Anatomy team who are passionate about teaching, learning and research. We blend cadaveric anatomy and technology-enhanced learning approaches, including the use of portable ultrasound to deliver a clinically relevant and contemporary learning experience for our students.
As Senior Lecturer in Anatomy, you will effectively contribute to the development and delivery of high quality undergraduate medical education, training and research in medical Anatomy and related subjects, ensuring provision of a high-quality learning experience throughout the full student journey.
Please note this is a maternity cover, 9 month fixed-term post.
What you can bring
The successful candidate will possess experience of teaching, learning and assessment in Anatomy and related subjects within a Higher Education Institution and have up to date understanding of the use of technology in undergraduate and/or post graduate learning and teaching and/or research as well as experience with cadaveric anatomy.
For Senior Lecturer, you will possess significant experience of delivering teaching and learning in Anatomy and related subjects within a Higher Education Institution and experience of Problem Based Learning. This will complement your demonstrable track record in research and experience of supervising undergraduate/postgraduate research projects.
