Overview
Fantastic opportunities exist for Therapeutic Radiographers within the Radiotherapy Department at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.
You will have the opportunity to rotate through a large department gaining experience on 5 Elekta linear accelerators and our pre‑treatment area which has 2 dedicated CT scanners with virtual simulation, ultrasound and MRI facilities.
In addition, we provide highly specialised treatment such as Clarity Ultrasound, Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiotherapy, Paediatric Radiotherapy and SABR for multiple sites. We have an HDR brachytherapy service treating gynaecological, prostate, oesophageal, and skin lesions.
We welcome applications from both qualified radiographers and also students qualifying in summer 2026.
Preceptorship and Professional Development
If you are newly qualified, we offer a preceptorship programme to support you in the transition from student to qualified staff member. All staff are involved in the development of the service and we actively encourage continual professional development including opportunities for post‑graduate learning to develop skills to promote patient‑centred care.
Band 5 Radiographer Responsibilities
Band 5 radiographer responsibilities include ensuring accurate delivery of radiotherapy treatments with appropriate patient care and working in a team with Band 6 and Band 7 radiographers.
* Ensure that the treatment equipment is safe and accurate to operate, undertaking appropriate machine checks and reporting any variances promptly.
* Undertake and evaluate radiation dose delivery calculations involving a range of radiation types and energies.
* Interpret, monitor and evaluate the treatment prescription to ensure that radiotherapy is delivered accurately and reproducibly.
* Evaluate delivery of radiotherapy treatment through application and interpretation of treatment verification procedures.
