The Role We are looking for an eager and enthusiastic individual to join our committed Pathogens Laboratory team. In this role, you’ll report to the Pathogens Team Leader and play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the laboratory. Your work will involve microbiological testing of samples, sub-culturing broths for pathogen analysis, counting and identifying microorganisms on plates, and performing accurate calculations for test results. About the Position Shift: 40 hours per week Salary: £25,834 Location: Chatteris Contract: Full time - Permanent The day to day Sub-culturing broths for pathogen analysis. Counting and identifying microorganisms on enumeration plates. Performing calculations for test results and data entry into the LIMS system. Assisting with stock control and ensuring work is completed promptly. Reading pathogen plates and maintaining high laboratory cleanliness. The Essentials A Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science subject (desirable). The ability to work alone and as part of a team in a busy laboratory. A keen eye for detail and the ability to work on own initiative. Good communication skills, written and oral. Be able to accurately follow written procedures. Previous laboratory experience would be an advantage but full training will be provided.
