Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and hardworking individual to join our team to support families with infant feeding through their neonatal journey. The post holder will:
* work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support pregnant and breastfeeding women and their families throughout NHS Lanarkshire, to promote the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding, especially within the first six weeks following birth
* deliver high quality care in accordance with guidance given and work delegated by their management team
* mentor volunteers. This mentoring/support will take place ante and postnatally, in the hospital, community and at home, to empower women to breastfeed, therefore giving infants the best possible start in life
* work across several settings including the hospital, the family home, community and clinic settings, and work with other professionals and partner agencies e.g. public health nurses and health improvement staff
What we’ll need you to bring
* SVQ III in Healthcare or working towards or equivalent experience working in the role
* Breastfeeding training or willingness to undertake
* Experience of working with volunteers or experience of volunteering
* Experience of working with breastfeeding women
* Experience of working alone with support at a distance
* Ability to work with people and as part of a team
* Ability to work unsupervised
* Ability to prioritise own workload
* Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to ongoing personal development
* Driving licence and access to a car
* Ability to work flexible hours
* Commitment to ongoing personal development

Nice to have
* SQA standard in English and Arithmetic/Maths
* Baby Friendly “Breastfeeding and Relationship Building” Training
* Proficient IT skills including Microsoft packages
* Experience in NHS electronic systems
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Location and working pattern
This role will be based in Neonatal within University Hospital Wishaw.
