Overview
A Paralegal plays a crucial role within the conveyancing team, providing administrative and practical support to conveyancers and solicitors who manage the legal aspects of buying, selling and transferring properties. The position is ideal for individuals with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in property law.
Responsibilities
* Assisting fee earners with all aspects of residential and commercial property transactions.
* Opening new files, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all documentation is up to date.
* Drafting initial letters, forms and standard documents under supervision.
* Liaising with clients, agents, mortgage lenders, and other parties to obtain and relay information.
* Carry out searches from local authorities, environmental and land registry, review results and communicate findings.
* Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails, post and telephone calls.
* Preparing contract packs and completion statements.
* Assisting with the exchange of contracts and completion processes.
* Ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering and data protection regulations.
* General administration duties, such as photocopying, canning, filing and data entry.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a legal or conveyancing environment is desirable but not essential.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
* Competence in using legal case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
* Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
* The ability to be proactive, flexible and adaptable to meet client needs.
* Positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent client service.
* It would be preferred to have a law degree, completion of a recognised paralegal qualification or working towards the SQE.
