What you will be doing
You will be working with men and women Service users could be suffering from Acute mental illness, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Personality Disorder, Dual diagnosis, Self-harm, Substance misuse issues, alongside addressing conditions like depression, self harm, physical health concerns, and psychological distress including trauma.
As an Assistant Psychologist you will have the opportunity to assist with assessments, formulations, and treatment to our service users, under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist. You will also assist in clinically related administration including conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching, and project work.

As an Assistant Psychologist you will be:
1. Contributing to psychological assessments and formulations
2. Facilitating psychological interventions on a 1:1 and/or group basis to service users, monitoring and reporting upon their effectiveness
3. Assisting in designing and delivering specialist training to others
4. Assisting with the delivery of reflective practice for staff
5. Maintaining clinical databases
6. Completing outcome measures
7. Writing reports for various audiences
8. Service evaluation and other research tasks including collecting, analysing, and reporting upon an array of statistics
9. Undertaking clinically relevant audits
To be successful in this role, you will have:
10. A minimum of an upper second-class honours degree in Psychology conferring eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
11. Experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist in a forensic and/or mental health setting in a similar role
12. Experience of maintaining office systems and undertaking administration tasks
13. Creative thinking, clinical efficacy, and a strong commitment to working with evidenced based models of therapeutic intervention
14. Strong organisation skills
15. Good interpersonal and communication skills
16. To meet professional practice expectations including the HCPC standards of conduct, performance and ethics, and the BPS code of ethics and conduct

A trauma-informed care model is used to focus on length of stay to make sure individuals are able to move as quickly and safely as possible from the service to the most appropriate and least restrictive environment for them.
