Junior Clinical Fellow ST1-2 in Emergency Medicine
This job description, together with the Capabilities Framework and job plan, will be reviewed annually and agreed with the Clinical Director and Divisional Director, on behalf of the Chief Medical Officer, to ensure that it reflects the areas of work, clinical responsibilities of the post, and purchaser requirements.
A suitably experienced post-holder will be expected to provide a service to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and General Practitioners, attend multi-disciplinary meetings, and work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality clinical care.
The work will be undertaken on three sites, closer to patients' homes, with potential expansion to GP surgeries and health centres. Job plans may be revised accordingly.
The post-holder will be responsible for the continuing care and treatment of patients, personal performance of clinical duties as per the job plan, delegation and training of staff, and supporting the A&E department and acute medicine to ensure timely patient care and flow.
Additional responsibilities include providing consultation and advisory services to clinical colleagues and primary care, attending cross-site multi-disciplinary meetings, collaborating to deliver high-quality services, and supporting professional supervision, training, and management of junior medical staff.
The role involves participating in clinical audits, annual appraisals, maintaining professional development, and adhering to professional guidelines such as GMC standards and Good Medical Practice.
While these posts are not training posts, they are structured to provide a portfolio-based postgraduate training programme similar to the national training model, including weekly teaching sessions, Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, and in-house training for examinations such as PACES. A Certificate of Postgraduate Training will be awarded at the end of the post.
