Role Summary
We are seeking three full‑time Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Doctoral Researchers (36.5 hrs/week) for a fixed‑term contract of 36 months (3 years). Starting date is 1 October 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter (preferably no later than 1 February 2027).

About The Project
The posts are funded by the MSCA Doctoral Network project WindConnect (Wind Farm Control and Integration in Sector‑Coupled Power Systems). WindConnect, led by the University of Warwick, trains researchers to address challenges in integrating large‑scale wind energy into modern power systems.
* Two posts focus on modelling, stability, and control of grid‑forming technologies in wind power systems.
* One post focuses on AI‑based energy management for wind‑farm–hydrogen hybrid systems.
* Post holders have the opportunity to undertake secondments with industry partners.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement advanced control and optimisation algorithms for grid‑forming technologies.
* Research AI‑driven optimisation techniques for energy management in hybrid wind‑hydrogen systems.
* Collaborate with industry partners and other research group members.
* Publish high‑quality research outputs and present findings at conferences.
* Participate in training, workshops and entrepreneurial activities within the WindConnect consortium.
Qualifications
* Good honours degree in Control Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
* Developing research profile capable of publishing high‑quality research output.
* Excellent IT skills for writing technical papers and presentations.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working independently and in a team.
* Strong experience or knowledge in at least one of: control systems, data science, machine learning, renewable energy, and power systems.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
* Must meet Marie Curie Researcher eligibility criteria.
* Cannot have resided or carried out main activity in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to recruitment.
* Must not have been awarded a doctoral degree.
* Applicants should be within the first four years (full‑time equivalent research experience) of their research career.
* Must be registered or willing to register for a PhD degree at the University of Warwick.
* Right to work in the UK.
* Right to work can be obtained via sponsorship for a Skilled Worker visa if not yet available.
