About The Role
Please review the Placement Map link below before applying, which shows all of the schools where we currently conduct placements. Ensure you can travel to at least one or more schools from this map. You will be asked to mention the schools in your application. Note that this does not guarantee placement in these schools; we will try our best to accommodate your preferences.
Placement Map
Please ensure you only apply for one vacancy. This is your location preference, which can be changed later.
* Placement Counsellors provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organization adhering to the BACP ethical framework, our counsellors are dedicated to improving mental health and well-being.
* We offer high support to counsellors on placement through regular supervision, tailored training workshops, and a well-recognized clinical placement.
* An induction program is provided, with clinical supervision at the end of each day.
* You should be available for at least one half-day per week to work therapeutically with up to three children, offering one-to-one counselling.
* Placements are during term time only, lasting one academic year, with opportunities for extension.
* You can attend up to six optional workshops per year, recognized as CPD time.
* Sessions with children count as clinical hours towards professional accreditation, recognized by BACP and UKCP.
* Placement experience is a valuable stepping stone into a career with Place2Be; over two-thirds of our clinical staff started as placement counsellors.
* Positions are available in primary and secondary schools nationwide.
Counting your hours
All clinical hours gained can contribute towards accreditation with bodies like BACP and UKCP. However, check with your course tutor if child hours are accepted for your qualification. If not, you may consider applying for a second placement for experience with children and young people.
Diversity and Inclusion
Place2Be is committed to equal opportunities and encourages applications from all community sections, especially from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. We are also particularly interested in attracting male candidates to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS/PVG disclosure.
