We are expanding our services in North Wales and developing new roles in community and inpatient teams with clear career progression. As part of our growth strategy, Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board is appointing a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry based in Ty Llewelyn Mental Health Unit, Bangor. You must be on the Specialist Register, have CCT or a recognised equivalent, or be within 6 months of obtaining it at interview.
Main duties of the job
This is a replacement post as part of the continued development of forensic services to provide sustainable specialist services for North Wales. The post holder will be responsible for the overall psychiatric care of an inpatient population within the medium secure services. Working with the multidisciplinary team, you will provide medical leadership and undertake assessment and management for inpatients and for the wider forensic service locally, including prisons and the community forensic mental health team.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists (or eligible for MRCPsych approval).
Desirable criteria
* Forensic CC T or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
Eligibility
Essential Criteria
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at time of appointment. Included on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of completing CCT. Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment. Approved Clinician status or able to.
Desirable criteria
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings/conditions on practice. Welsh AC Approval.
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
* Evidence of training in core and specialist competencies relevant for forensic psychiatry. General medical skills. Experience in leading a multidisciplinary team.
Teaching and Training
Essential criteria
* Evidence of delivering postgraduate teaching and multidisciplinary teaching.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of teaching medical students.
Research/Audit
Essential criteria
* Proven capability to initiate and undertake original work. Evidence of undertaking a relevant audit project.
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of research in forensic psychiatry.
Motivation

* Commitment to developing forensic psychiatry and to working as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Personal Qualities
