Project Details
The primary focus of this Building Surveyor role will be on education estate projects. They will range between 50k to 2 million pounds. The employer specialises in education Funding, Strategic Estate Advice & Construction Delivery for Schools, Academies and Colleges.
You'll primarily work on projects across East Anglia, as well as Bedford and Hertfordshire.
This is a hybrid role, with an office in Bury St Edmunds.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Provide estate support to trusts and schools, ranging from estates strategy advice to project delivery services
2. Prepare condition surveys and reports, detailing the current state of a building and recommending necessary remedial work.
3. Ensure that projects comply with all relevant building codes, health and safety regulations, and educational facility guidelines.
4. Conduct regular health and safety audits
5. Advise on Refurbishment works to existing buildings I.e. Roofing replacement, fire alarm works, fire door replacement, safeguarding works etc.
Desired Skills and Experience
6. 4-5 years of post-graduate experience as a Building Surveyor
7. Previous experience in the education sector would be ideal
8. Ability to work independently and in a team
9. Keen eye for detail to identify potential issues and ensure work meets all required standards and specifications
10. Ability to negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and other parties to achieve the best outcomes for projects.
11. Proficiency in using industry-standard software and tools
12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
13. Driving license and access to a car.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
14. A BSc degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline or equivalent qualification is preferred.
