School of Health and Social Care
The School of Health and Social Care has an excellent reputation for teaching and research. Our academic members of staff include occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychological therapists, nurses, social workers, oral health practitioners and sociologists.
We work closely with health and care stakeholders to deliver excellence in education and collaborative research with an aim to improve health and care delivery on a regional, national and international level. This role will be based at our Colchester campus.
Duties of the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work within the School of Health and Social Care with the Clinical Psychology team. The role will involve supporting a collaborative project with NHS England to develop Equality, Diversity and Inclusion opportunities for aspiring and current doctoral students. This project is underpinned by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is a fundamental aspect of Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. The successful applicant will develop and coordinate the scheme, and work collaboratively with our stakeholders to support both future and current students with this initiative. You will be joining an established team and will play an important role in improving the student experience.
The role will also involve direct contact with students, to engage with EDI related teaching, the evaluation of the effectiveness of the EDI mentoring programs, and with the potential for involvement in research supervision.
Skills and qualifications required:
The successful candidate will have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant area, experience of working in an academic department, and direct experience of teaching.
The successful role holder will be able to demonstrate the ability to foster strong relationships with key stakeholders. They will possess excellent administration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Applicants must demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate with members of the health service team in a range of situations. In addition, applicants must have a clear understanding of how students learn both generally and within their subject/disciplinary area(s) and the ability to apply this understanding to their own practice.
