This position is being advertised to form a pipeline of candidates for current and future positions within Civil Aerospace. Applicants should not expect immediate feedback, but we will review your CV in a timely manner.
What you will be doing:
* Be one of 2-3 aircraft and vehicle performance engineers in the Rolls-Royce Future Platforms team, developing and maintaining aircraft, aerodynamics, and noise capabilities.
* Engage with internal/external stakeholders to investigate and appraise novel systems & aircraft.
* Activities include prop/open fan integration, aircraft performance assessment, methodologies for BWB/TWB or all-electric asset design, supporting RR Core Strategy and Futureproofing.
* Collaborate across Civil, Defence, and other businesses.
About Future Platforms:
Part of Central Group R&T, providing long-term technology outlook, influencing R&T investments, and engaging with external stakeholders. The team has designed the Rolls-Royce eVTOL and supports the Hydrogen Accelerator programme, collaborating with Boeing, Embraer, Dassault, airlines, and airports.
Responsibilities:
* Apply understanding of aircraft/vehicle/system performance to design and evaluate new concepts.
* Develop & maintain tools for aircraft aerodynamics performance, including innovative aircraft types.
* Understand gas turbine products and powerplant operation, integrating and managing interfaces.
* Design systems using Systems Engineering principles to optimize solutions at product and sub-system levels.
* Manage system requirements, product changes, and technical investigations.
* Verify that systems meet requirements and standardization reports.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Strong knowledge in aircraft design/performance, mechanical design, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and related fields.
* Ability to apply analytical and innovative thinking to technical problems.
* Experience with product integrity, liability, and certification.
