We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Technician specialising in plumbing and mechanical repairs to work as part of our Plymouth Maintenance team, providing both planned and responsive maintenance expertise.
This is a permanent full time position working 37.5 hours. You will be part of the maintenance team that covers shift patterns between 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. You will generally work 1 weekend in every 5. The salary is £33,437 per annum plus the potential for overtime.
Key responsibilities include:
· Carry out planned and reactive maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement and provide front line response for all plumbing and mechanical work
· Undertake all work in a safe working environment, assessing all Health and Safety issues before work commences and report any hazards or safety issues to the relevant Manager
· Carry out PPM in accordance with the schedule & liaise with specialist sub-contractors
· Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance repairs, including records for statutory compliance
· Assist with statutory testing including fire alarm testing, fire extinguisher, fire blanket and fire detector checks, water temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning and emergency lighting checks
· Take the lead in building fabric stock management (ordering, storage, distribution) ensuring appropriate parts are held and available to meet SLA timescales for repair
· Assist team colleagues in other trades as and when required including cross-trade skills sharing
We are looking for you to already be a skilled plumber with NVQ Level 2 or a BTEC/City & Guilds accredited qualification (6189, 6035, 6129 or equivalent) and worked within a maintenance environment including a range of repair work experience.
Alongside this, you will have a good understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices of building services and systems as well as good understanding of health and safety, with the ability to always work in a safe manner.

You will also be prepared to work (with notice) additional hours when the needed, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends every year.
