City of York Council offers an exciting opportunity to join our developing 0-19 Healthy Child Service as a specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Student Health Visitor/School Nurse.
We seek compassionate, accountable individuals motivated to meet the demands of the SCPHN course through attendance at Hull University.
You must be a current NMC Registered Nurse (Adult, Child, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health) or Midwife.
Responsibilities include undertaking Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner training, which combines theoretical and practical elements to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for safe and effective practice as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – Health Visitor/School Nurse.
You will be responsible for delivering a universal core service, targeted interventions, and public health initiatives to children, young people, and their families.
You will plan and deliver the Healthy Child Programme under the leadership of the Healthy Child Service Team Manager to ensure optimal health outcomes for children, young people, and families across York.

This role is based at one of three children’s centres in York (Acomb, Clifton, Tang Hall) and teaching placement is at Hull University. It is available as a secondment opportunity for internal candidates, with prior approval from their line manager.
Hybrid working arrangements are available, with contractual location at the designated council office.
Applicants must demonstrate spoken English competency at CEFR level C1 during the interview.
