Overview
What will I be doing? We're working to improve the lives of Children and young people in Somerset - and you'll be a key part of that. You will:
Responsibilities
* Complete a number of assessments to reflect individual circumstances (including, where appropriate, mental health, speech and language and assessment of risk of harm and vulnerability).
* Ensure that the supervision of children and young people is as effective as possible; deliver a range of interventions and activities as identified through assessment.
* Keep accurate and timely records and to provide information, written assessments, reports and statements to support other service professionals. In specific circumstances, to present reports to the Courts and Referral panels to enable Magistrates and Judges to make judicial decisions.
* Deliver services in accordance with Youth Justice National Standards.
* Actively engage children and young people to overcome challenges to participation in interventions and programmes.
Qualifications
* a minimum 5 A - C grades at GCSE, level 4 - 7 or equivalent which should include English and Maths.
* a relevant vocational qualification (or significant acquired knowledge equal to) at a minimum of Level 3 NVQ, together with evidence of continuing professional development in a relevant professional field.
* a willingness to engage in ongoing training, development and supervision.
* experience and skills in working with children and young people on both a one to one basis and in a group work setting.
* experience working in a relevant field - to include (but not limited to) youth work, probation, education, health or criminal justice.
* a working knowledge of primary legislation relation to youth criminal justice.
Key information
* Flexible working available, using a hybrid model - working from home and your contracted work base.
* The post will be covering the West of the county. Your work base will be in Bridgwater.
* 28 days' annual leave.
* Permanent for 37 hours per week.
