We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller who will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial integrity of Simplyhealth.
As the guardian of all reported results, you will ensure that our financial records, statements and disclosures are accurate, compliant and reflect the highest professional standards. Leading a Corporate Accounting team of three, and reporting to the Head of Financial Governance and Operations, you will oversee monthly management accounts, statutory reporting, treasury and cashflow management, and the delivery of high‑quality financial insight that underpins business performance.
Working closely with FP&A, Finance Systems, IT and external partners, you will be central to maintaining a strong control environment, enhancing financial processes and supporting the successful embedding and optimisation of Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations. As a senior leader within Finance, you will champion excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement. Having gone live with Microsoft Dynamics F&O, we are now moving into the next phase of our transformation journey, with a focus on further system enhancements, automation and use of AI.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
1. Oversee all reported financial results, ensuring accuracy, integrity and compliance with UK GAAP and relevant legislation
2. Maintain accounting records in line with current standards and statutory requirements
3. Lead the production of statutory accounts, monthly management accounts and inputs into business performance reporting
Treasury & Cashflow Management
4. Manage the Group treasury function, including cashflow reporting and forecasting
5. Ensure robust liquidity management and strong cash controls
Leadership & Team Management
6. Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching and development to the Corporate Accounting team
7. Foster a high‑performance culture with clear standards and professional support
Business Partnering & Performance Insight
8. Partner closely with FP&A to ensure alignment between actuals, budgets, forecasts and long‑term plans
9. Lead preparation of legal entity and business unit P&Ls, balance sheets, cashflows and cost allocation models
10. Own the financial sections of the monthly business performance report
Controls, Governance & Audit
11. Maintain a strong internal control environment across all accounting and reporting processes
12. Lead relationships with internal and external auditors
13. Prepare technical accounting papers for the Group Finance Committee and Audit Committee, attending meetings where required
Systems, Automation & Innovation
14. Drive the development of financial reporting within Microsoft Dynamics F&O following its implementation from January
15. Support delivery of a successful year‑end “dry run” through effective system configuration and reporting
16. Partner with Finance Systems and IT to automate processes, strengthen balance sheet controls and leverage AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot
About You
You will be a senior finance professional with strong technical capability, leadership credibility and the confidence to operate with gravitas across the organisation.
To be considered you must have:
17. Extensive knowledge of UK GAAP (with IFRS knowledge advantageous)
18. Recent experience preparing statutory accounts
19. Proven experience leading and developing teams of qualified accountants
20. Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and audit
21. Background within the financial services sector
22. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics F&O or a comparable finance system
23. A service‑oriented mindset with strong internal stakeholder management

We have a head office in Hampshire, but depending on your role, you’ll be able to enjoy our ‘smart working’ approach This means you can flex when and where you spend your time. For many of us this means day to day work can be handled remotely, but there will also be times when we need to come together in the office to collaborate, attend training sessions, induction, briefings and more.
