About the Role As the Tax Accounting Director, you will oversee all tax provisions, filings, and reporting across both statutory and GAAP frameworks. You will serve as the company's subject‑matter expert on insurance tax accounting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence in a highly regulated industry. Manage all aspects of income tax, premium tax, and other insurance‑related tax calculations. Partner with Finance, Actuarial, and FP&A to evaluate tax impacts of business decisions, new products, and revenue models. Support audit processes (external auditors, regulators, and internal audit) by preparing financial support, responding to inquiries, and maintaining robust documentation. Drive continuous improvement in tax reporting systems, automation, and analytics in a technology‑first environment. Maintain strong internal controls over tax processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory and enterprise risk‑management frameworks. Monitor emerging tax legislation and insurance‑specific regulatory updates to advise leadership on implications. Lead and mentor a small but growing tax team. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred. 10 years of tax accounting experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting and industry roles. Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles related to tax. Prior experience in health insurance or P&C/Life insurance required.
