We require an Assistant House Manager to join our team in our Senior Boys House, Rutherford (Years 11-13).
About the Role
Creating a space where our boarders feel warm, friendly, and safe is of utmost importance to the College. We foster a strong family culture, values, and community spirit, making boarding at St Andrew’s College a unique experience. Providing a solid foundation for our boarders to thrive is essential for nurturing a positive growth mindset, complemented by a well-structured social calendar.
Reporting to the Director of Boarding, the Assistant House Manager plays a vital role, working closely with boarding students and their families as the first point of contact. The role involves a high level of pastoral care, with responsibilities from early morning to evening, including being on call for overnight situations. You will handle administrative tasks, oversee cleaning and maintenance of the boarding house, manage laundry services, and participate in meetings with other House Managers. Attendance at boarding chapel services and events is also required.
What You Bring
We seek someone who can quickly build rapport with students, families, and colleagues, with exceptional communication skills. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team is essential. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and pastoral care experience, particularly with teenagers and ideally in a boarding environment, are required.
Personal qualities such as honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, approachability, and fairness are important. This is a part-year position, working term times only, with some weekend duties shared among staff. The onsite role requires presence from Sunday to Thursday, with modern accommodation provided year-round, including during school holidays. Benefits include meals during term time, utilities, a college laptop, Sky TV, Wi-Fi, and more. The role is subject to a Police Vetting process, and a current First Aid certification is required (which the College can provide).
