Key Responsibilities
The Midday Meal Supervisor role is varied, hands-on, and rewarding. Responsibilities include:
1. Supervision of Dining Areas and Playgrounds
o Monitor pupils in the dining hall, classrooms, corridors, and outdoor spaces
o Ensure all children are safe, behaving appropriately, and included
2. Supporting Mealtimes
o Assist younger or vulnerable pupils with meals if needed
o Encourage good table manners and positive mealtime behaviour
3. Promoting Positive Behaviour
o Be a role model for respect, politeness, and inclusion
o Address minor conflicts calmly and fairly
4. Encouraging Play and Activity
o Supervise outdoor games and indoor activities
o Promote inclusive play and teamwork
5. Providing Emotional Support
o Support pupils who may feel anxious, upset, or shy
o Offer reassurance and guidance in a friendly, approachable manner
6. Health, Safety, and First Aid
o Be aware of pupils’ dietary requirements, allergies, and medical conditions
o Administer basic first aid where necessary (training provided)
o Report accidents, incidents, or safeguarding concerns to school staff
7. Collaboration and Teamwork
o Work alongside teachers, teaching assistants, and other lunchtime staff
o Follow school routines and policies to maintain smooth transitions
