Interim Contracts Manager – Based in Southampton, hybrid working
Length: 3 months with possible extension
IR35 status: Inside
Rate: £220 per day via an umbrella company
Responsibilities
* Manage contracts, contractors, and multi-trade teams to deliver planned works on time, within budget, and to high standards
* Oversee procurement, tendering, and contract compliance in line with council policies
* Control budgets, forecasts, and expenditure while ensuring value for money
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements including CDM regulations
* Work closely with housing teams, tenants, and partners to improve service delivery
* Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and customer satisfaction
* Lead and develop staff including apprentices through effective management
Skills, experience and knowledge
Essential
* HNC/HND (or equivalent) or significant contracts/commercial services experience
* Knowledge of CDM and health & safety (IOSH Level 3 or working towards)
* Experience managing teams, budgets, and customer-focused services
* Strong financial, commercial, and project management skills
* Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable
* Professional qualification (e.g., CIOH, RICS, CIOB)
* Experience in social housing or public sector property services
