Purpose of the role
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of all guest rooms and public areas within a room2 hometel, ensuring high standards are met by managing a team of room making staff, scheduling shifts, ordering supplies, conducting quality checks, and adhering to health and safety regulations, all while maintaining a budget and optimizing operational efficiency; essentially ensuring the hotel's guest spaces are consistently clean and presentable
Key Responsibilities
People
* Play a keen part in the overall Employee Satisfaction with our Hometel
* Day-to-day management including 1-2-1 and performance conversations, recruitment, training and development of the home making team
* Creating staff rosters that provide adequate coverage across all shifts in line with employee availability
* Engagement in local / community activities
* Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation
* Deliver personal and memorable guest service when interacting with guests, communicating with front desk staff as required
* Helping as a room making resource if needed
* Sharing best practice across the room2 portfolio home making teams
Places
* Establishing detailed cleaning procedures for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house space
* Daily inspections to ensure spotless standards and delivery of a perfect first impression every time
* Coordinate availability of apartments/ rooms with all teams and accurately update apartment/ room status through Mews
* Managing the room making budget and ensuring cost-effective operations.
* Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ordering replacements as needed.
* Implementing new cleaning techniques or technologies to optimize efficiency
* Coordinating with other departments such as maintenance to address repair needs
Planet
* Ensuring all products sustainable credentials are followed in line with our Company policy
* Control product usage, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
* Ensure the correct disposal of refuse
* Ensure that all energy usage and consumption is monitored and reduced where possible
* Keep the team engaged in Team Planet initiatives
Skills and Qualities
* Proven experience in a management role within hotel housekeeping.
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of housekeeping procedures
* Kind and compassionate leadership skills with a tenacity for driving performance
* Experience in motivating, leading and developing a team
* Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations

Pay range and compensation package
* Competitive salary up to £31,000 and discretionary bonus scheme
