Background The Weapon Engineering Training Group (WETG) is part of the Maritime Warfare School (MWS) and primarily delivers career and specialist training to personnel of the Weapon Engineering (WE) Branch. It also provides SME training to members of other Branches and International students. There are 3 Training Units within WETG that meet a variety of different training requirements. Career course training is delivered to RN (GS and SM), RFA and International officers and ratings by SEMT and CarTU. Specialist equipment training and explosives training is delivered by CapTU. The training is delivered by Team Fisher which is a collaboration of both military staff and civilian staff under Project SELBOURNE. Position Summary To act as Divisional Officer for Phase 3 Trainees on Career Courses, so that the provisions of BRd 3 and Weapon Engineering Training Group (WETG) Standing Orders are complied with. Supporting trainees in their division to reach the training standards required and allow trainees to become holistically ready for their future assignment. Roles and Responsibilities To act as Divisional Officer (DO) for Phase 3 Trainees on Career Courses, as directed by WE TRNG WO complying with WETG orders and MOD policy. Undertake the role and associated responsibilities as Divisional Officer for up to 60 trainees of OR2-OR6 rate range. Complete End Of Course Reports (Non-appraisal) for each trainee within their division on completion of Career Course. To ensure trainees are prepared in all aspects prior to attending LRLC/SRLC as appropriate. Undertake corrective measures against trainees as required. To discuss with WETG Management any remedial action necessary to improve a trainees’ ability to progress satisfactorily through the training course. Ensure that the highest standards of discipline, conduct and appearance are maintained within their division. Accountability The post holder is accountable to WE TRNG WO for their roles and responsibilities as well as duty of care towards trainees (N1) matters. The post holder is accountable to BWO for wider establishment duties. Authority In addition to the authority afforded by QRRNs, the post holder has: Functional authority over all subordinate trainees undergoing training within WETG. Functional authority for personnel as stipulated in Standing Orders when conducting establishment or wider duties. Authority to place trainees on DOs warnings as required. Authority to liaise as required across MWS, the RN, MoD and with external agencies to achieve the post roles and responsibilities. Tasks The post holder is to fulfil the following specific tasks relating to their role: Provide induction briefings for trainee classes joining WETG. Ensure all trainees in their jurisdiction are in date for Naval Core Training competencies. Oversee training progress for trainees on Career Course. Update WETG Management of any issues affecting the success of a trainee in their division. Administer Minor Admin Actions and Level One Warnings in conjunction with the CarTU WO, CarTU 2I/C and GWO. Act as WETG’s Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) Advisor and focal point of contact for trainees and staff liaising with the Base Warrant Officer (BWO).
