Purpose of job
Birketts is recruiting an ambitious, driven, and forward-thinking environmental lawyer to join our growing Planning and Environmental Team on a permanent basis. The team operates across four offices, and the role requires flexibility to work across locations and travel as needed. Ideally, you would have a home office in Cambridge or Ipswich to facilitate supervision and a diverse workload.
You will provide high-level legal support to fee earners and the wider team, managing a varied caseload of planning and environmental work. The focus will be on delivering quality environmental law advice to our clients.
Experience in planning law is beneficial but not essential; environmental law experience is also valuable. Willingness to learn about planning law and the planning system is necessary.
Accountabilities
* Support the Planning and Environmental team in achieving growth and service excellence
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervising juniors and seeking guidance from seniors
* Use software like Microsoft Word and Excel to produce high-standard documentation
* Become proficient in legal software such as Hi Q, Expert Time Recording, and Compare Docs
* Prepare advice and documents meeting client standards and deadlines
* Update clients on progress as required
* Proofread all work for accuracy
* Participate in business development activities
