Job Introduction
East Durham College is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Lecturer in Construction to deliver high-quality teaching and learning across Levels 1, 2, and 3. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the future of learners entering the construction industry.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Deliver engaging theory and practical sessions aligned with industry standards.
* Prepare and adapt teaching materials, including digital content.
* Assess student work and provide constructive feedback.
* Support curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
* Provide academic and pastoral support to learners.
* Facilitate employer engagement and work experience opportunities.
* Participate in team meetings, events, and CPD activities.
* Uphold college policies including safeguarding, equality, and health & safety.
Essential:
* Level 2 qualification in a construction-related trade.
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
* Level 6 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE/DTLLS) or willingness to work towards.
* Assessor Award.
* Experience teaching a range of learners (14–19+).
* Proven success in delivering high-quality Construction provision.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and awarding body procedures.
* Strong communication and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Full UK Driving Licence and/or access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
* Internal Verifier (IV) Award.
* Experience teaching students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
* Ability to monitor and analyse learner data effectively.
