Conventional Health and Safety Senior Advisor Location: Manchester, Warrington, Derby with hybrid working available Department: Safety & Regulatory Affairs Reports to: Senior HSE Manager About the Role At Rolls-Royce SMR, we are committed to embedding robust conventional health and safety standards into every aspect of our engineering and design processes. As a Conventional Health and Safety Senior Advisor, you will lead the development and implementation of strategies that ensure our nuclear power plant designs meet the highest safety standards and reduce risks to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). This is a pivotal role requiring strategic thinking, strong interpersonal skills, and deep knowledge of UK health and safety legislation. You will work closely with engineering teams, regulators, and external stakeholders to deliver safe, repeatable plant designs. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and deployment of health and safety strategies and plans. Define and manage requirements throughout the design and delivery lifecycle. Provide expert advice on UK health and safety legislation (e.g., CDM, LOLER, COMAH, Working at Height Regulations). Support specialist safety assessments and HAZOP reviews. Engage with external stakeholders, regulators, and auditors. Drive continuous improvement and foster a strong health and safety culture. What We’re Looking For Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience. Extensive experience in health and safety advisory roles on large infrastructure projects. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including interaction with regulators and senior leaders. Technical writing and presentation experience. Knowledge of risk assessment techniques (HAZOP, HAZID) and design risk management. Auditor qualification or relevant experience is desirable.
