Role summary In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating a portfolio of engineering projects, including new product development and sustaining engineering initiatives. You’ll work cross-functionally to ensure project goals are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with business standards and processes. You will also have the opportunity to influence project prioritization and resource allocation while reporting directly to senior leadership. We are seeking someone with a solid background in engineering project management, ideally within the electronics or manufacturing industry. Strong organizational skills, the ability to collaborate across diverse teams, and a confident approach to stakeholder communication are essential. Experience with wireless technologies, life safety systems, or hardware-based product development would be highly advantageous. Key Responsibilities Responsible for project management of strategic programmes for the Business Unit and cross-functional business processes. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating leadership, decision-making abilities and technical aptitude to lead cross-functional projects that meet stakeholder needs. Foundational skills for this role include programme and project management, public speaking, general engineering aptitude, leadership and business management skills. Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the on time, within scope and within budget execution of the project. Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility. Ensuring resource availability and allocation. Development of detailed project plans to track progress against time bound objectives. Identify and manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs following the appropriate business processes & procedures. Measure project performance (SPI/CPI/KPI, variance). Accurate cost forecasting and monitoring against plan. Report and escalate risks, issues, plan variances to PMO lead as needed. Manage relationships with clients and all stakeholders. Perform risk management to monitor, minimize and mitigate project risks. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, ensuring the team is fully aligned with the deliverables and standards set by the organisation. Schedule and coordinate cross-functional gated reviews. Ensure quality standards are observed and adhered to throughout the project lifecycle. Document and record escapes or turn-backs for future continuous improvement efforts & lessons learned. Support the annual strategic roadmap and budget planning process to establish future development roadmaps and proactively generate plans to support them. Contribute to the development and improvement of standard tools/methods across the organisation. Qualifications / Skills Requirements Engineering degree or equivalent through industry experience, preferably in Telecommunications, Electronics or Computer Science. 5 years of prior experience in project and team management in a product development environment or or equivalent industry such as automotive or aerospace. Programme/Project Management training/certificate (e.g. PMP from PMI) or significant practical experience. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify needs of the organisation and/or customer, articulate necessary proposals and see projects through to completion. Capable of working with different cultures in remote locations, and willing to travel to other business units and suppliers including overseas. Strong organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills. Strong interpersonal, influencing and leadership skills. Ability to create an environment in which people are involved and included. Ability to influence and make recommendations at all levels of the organisation. Background in fire detection and alarm systems would be beneficial.
