Weapons Trainer - 36,277 starting salary, permanent position, onsite work. Location: Lyneham, Wiltshire. Pension & enhanced leave allowance available.
The role
As a Weapons Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering and developing weapons training, course development, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance training quality. You will proactively seek opportunities to modernise training materials and methods.
Responsibilities:
* Attend, complete, and pass Level 4 (Certificate in Education & Training) within 12 months of employment.
* Collaborate with T2D to attain the L4 teaching qualification, ensuring observations and related work are scheduled and completed.
* Manage teaching observations, ensuring they are booked and up to date.
* Keep College IP current at all times.
* Complete all mandatory safeguarding and other training within 6 months of employment as directed.
* Prepare and deliver training supporting the DCTT EMTC contract, including up-to-date lesson plans, course materials, and training aids.
* Develop relevant training materials in collaboration with Media, Graphics, and Digital Learning teams, maintaining a CPD portfolio on new technologies and equipment.
* Review and update course content to reflect technological advances using appropriate training aids.
* Participate in teaching practice, observations, and learning walks to assess and improve training quality.
* Maintain personal CPD portfolio, ensuring lesson plans align with approved syllabi.
* Utilise and develop VLE resources as directed.
* Assess trainees through written exams, practical assessments, and continuous evaluations, including marking and invigilation.
* Monitor trainee development, provide feedback, and deliver remedial training as needed. Manage student administration and attend debriefs.
* Inspect, maintain, and repair Light and Heavy weapons systems and associated optics/ancillaries as directed.
* Complete and update JAMES training and ensure proper recording of maintenance and inspection events.
* Contribute to QMS documentation, including PCDs, PUGs, and PUMs, reflecting departmental processes.
* Adhere to DSEME Standing Orders and Babcock QMS procedures.
* Maintain training equipment, aids, and technical literature.
* Follow H&S policies, reporting incidents via appropriate tools.
* Ensure cleanliness, security, and environmental standards in training areas, and promote safety awareness among students.
* Manage security and assets of AinU items assigned by the Line Manager, reporting losses or damages immediately.
* Supervise students and visitors to ensure compliance with H&S & PPE requirements, assessing and minimizing risks.
* Support and participate in presentations to clients, agencies, and visitors.
* Deliver and attend training courses, including off-site locations.
* Enhance SQEP by gaining competency to teach multiple subjects as directed.
* Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by your Line Manager to support the contract.
Required experience:
* Must be a Class 1 Armourer to be considered.
