Position Overview
An indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Apollo Management Holdings, AASP manages the securitized products and structured finance assets sourced and serviced by ATLAS SP Partners while serving as their sole risk manager.
The Role
As the Risk Management Director, you will be the lead risk manager on ATLAS Aircraft and the broader Transportation (Rail, Shipping, Container, etc.) lending and capital markets portfolio. This involves bespoke underwrites, including older aircraft, green time engines, part-out structures, back-leverage for sponsor portfolio, etc. The portfolio will require increased monitoring and oversight, especially for asset classes not tested through the cycle or with less established markets.
You will collaborate closely with the origination teams, risk leaders, and clients to evaluate credit risk in transactions. Your analysis will be critical for sign-offs by senior risk officers. You will develop strong partnerships with deal teams and promote a culture of review and challenge within the credit risk team.
This role demands deep expertise in asset and structural analysis, sponsor/originator financials, and enforcement provisions. The candidate should have a genuine interest in securitized products and transportation sectors, with strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
1. Manage risk for all aircraft and transportation transactions.
2. Conduct comprehensive transaction analyses, identify risks early, challenge deal teams, and utilize internal resources for expertise.
3. Perform credit work on asset pools and evaluate the risk profile of all related parties.
4. Form independent views, document risk analyses, and challenge or support deal structuring.
5. Participate in deal structuring, from inception through lifecycle, especially for higher-risk assets.
6. Review legal documents to ensure accuracy and alignment with deal structures.
7. Handle transactions independently, acting as an investor with delegated authority.
8. Present findings to Investment Committees and provide recommendations.
9. Collaborate with Risk Analytics to develop risk tools and fill data gaps.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience/knowledge in aviation and transportation asset classes, including valuation and credit analysis.
* Ability to work closely with origination, portfolio management, and structuring teams on structured warehouse facilities.
* Strong foundation in risk management, solution-oriented, with understanding of commercial needs and risk discipline.
* Excellent analytical, multi-asset experience, and capability to develop risk management tools.
* Extensive financial analysis, cash flow modeling, and understanding of credit risk metrics and systems.
* Knowledge of rating agency methodologies for ABS securitizations.
* Detail-oriented with experience in preparing comprehensive credit memoranda.
* Experience making critical financial decisions and managing complex criteria.
* Exceptional communication skills, comfortable with presenting to senior management and managing challenging discussions.
* Ability to synthesize market and economic data to assess portfolio risks.
