This role involves performing complex and non-routine activities related to electrical maintenance and repair. Responsibilities include fault diagnosis, repair, testing, and calibration of various engineering systems such as electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, building control, automation, standby generators, security access, nurse call systems, and lifts. The role also encompasses undertaking maintenance, repairs, minor improvements, and capital work across the Trust, ensuring compliance with safety standards and procedures.
The position supports the Electrical Operations Officer in delivering business plans, reviewing maintenance procedures, and supporting organizational needs. The primary work locations are Basingstoke and Winchester, with coverage extending to Andover, and flexibility to work at other sites as required.
Main duties of the job
* Work in accordance with electrical HTMs, statutory regulations, IET Wiring Regulations, and Trust policies.
* Ensure all work is performed safely, following risk assessments at all times.
* Work overtime for emergency repairs as needed, subject to availability.
* Perform essential repairs and general maintenance upon management request.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections and commissioning tests per Trust procedures.
* Conduct technical fault finding on complex electrical systems and equipment, utilizing cause and effect analysis and detailed examinations.
* Act as an Authorised Person (AP) for relevant systems such as LV/HV Electrical Systems and Lifts.
* Lead service activities for areas under your AP responsibilities, including planning and scheduling maintenance and major interruptions.
* Participate in training courses to maintain technical proficiency.
* Follow detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and all relevant regulations.
* Use all tools and equipment safely and appropriately for the tasks.

Person specification
Training
* Completion of a structured electrical engineering training program of at least three years.
* HNC/HND/BTEC/ONC in electrical and electronic engineering plus relevant experience.
* 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations Certificate.
* Emergency first aid training.
* Experience with specialist medical electrical systems such as IPS.
* Experience in inspection and testing of generators and fire alarm systems.
Experience and Knowledge
* At least one year of post-qualification experience in electrical maintenance.
* Good understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
* Experience as an Authorised/Responsible Person for HV, LV, and lifts systems.
* Experience working in an acute hospital environment.
* Experience with Building Management Systems.
Skills and abilities
* Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
* Adaptability to change.
* Manual handling training.
* Health and safety awareness, especially regarding prefabricated scaffold towers.
