PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £48,000-£53,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the BBC TV & Devices team as a Senior Tester, leading quality for iPlayer and TV platform experiences used by millions every day. You’ll shape how we test across broadcast and connected devices, champion audience needs, and guide teams toward robust, reliable releases that make our content easy and enjoyable to watch.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
* Lead the definition and execution of test approaches that meet complex product needs
* Active participation in helping improve your team’s software development methodologies
* Mentor and coach other testers to help build knowledge, skills and expertise within the department
* Contribute towards test process improvements and effectiveness through experimentation
* Work closely with test leadership to deliver and execute Test Strategy, evolving and elevating the test discipline
* Engage with wider test community forums to learn and share knowledge
* Collaborate in shaping and implementing test automation frameworks and delivery pipelinesDefine and ensure appropriate level of test coverage – both automation and manual – with your team
* Work with AWS systems and monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Piano analytics or equivalent
* Took ownership of defect management for small/medium projects, including triaging, debugging, analysing or hypothesising towards root cause
* Own test environment and test data requirements for testing tasks and projects
* Apply new technologies to projects where appropriate
* Perform ad‑hoc exploratory testing to support new features
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Self‑motivated, proactive and inquisitive attitude with outstanding communication skills
* Experience testing Web/Mobile & TV platforms/devices
* Excellent domain testing skills with a proven background working with broadcast systems such as DTT, DSat, DCable
* Experience working in multi‑discipline teams, ideally using Agile methodologies (sprints, scrum)
* Strong leadership of tasks, small projects spanning across multiple teams
* Experience testing applications on devices including TV, STB, game consoles, tablet and mobile using responsive designs and techniques
