You will work within the classroom setting, providing direct support to the class teacher and individual children, contributing to a positive and inclusive educational atmosphere.
Your Core Responsibilities: Dedicated Pupil Support
Provide direct academic support to pupils, either on a one-to-one basis or within small focus groups, across core subjects like literacy and numeracy.
Adapt and prepare learning materials under the direction of the class teacher to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
Assist in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining an orderly, engaging, and safe learning environment.
Support pupil personal care needs and promote independence where appropriate (depending on the specific pupil requirement).
Track pupil progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to the class teacher regarding interventions and achievements.
Collaborate effectively with the teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to learning.
Essential Candidate Requirements:
Proven experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant, ideally within a primary school setting.
A strong understanding of the needs of pupils with SEN (e.g., Autism, ADHD, or Moderate Learning Difficulties) is highly desirable.
Excellent patience, adaptability, and resilience when supporting children with varied learning profiles.
Exceptional interpersonal skills for working successfully with children, staff, and parents.
A mandatory enhanced DBS check, or the willingness to submit an immediate application for one.
