ADAS, part of RSK Group, is seeking a Principal Ecological Consultant to join our Midlands team based in Wolverhampton on a full time, permanent basis to join their growing UK ecology team.
This role will work together with our Associate Director and Technical Director to ensure high-quality service is delivered to our clients in the Midlands region.
As a Principal Ecological Consultant at ADAS you can expect to manage and deliver all elements of protected species/field surveys, assessment, tenders/quotes and report writing and associated project and client management. As a principal level Ecological Consultant, you’ll be responsible for:
1. Working together with our Associate Director and Technical Director, as well as our ecologists to ensure a high-quality service is delivered to our clients
2. Line managing a team of ecologists.
3. Supporting and strengthening the team of ecologists in the Midlands through training, development, support and advice.
4. Advising and helping coordinate all aspects of ecology relating to the project.
5. Managing projects from inception to finalisation
6. Talking to our clients and providing robust technical advice.
7. Writing technical reports including but not limited to, preliminary ecological appraisals, ecological impact assessments, mitigation strategies, biodiversity net gain assessments, habitat regulations assessments and protected species reports.
8. Technical review and approval of reports.
9. Contributing to the wider ADAS Environment team ethos, particularly to support and develop best practice and collaboration in consultancy.
10. Developing your own knowledge, skills and competencies through training opportunities and conferences offered to ADAS ecologists.
11. Fostering client relationships through successful delivery of tenders and projects.
You must have:
12. Graduate or 1st Degree level discipline or vocation qualification.
13. Full CIEEM membership or capable of achieving it.
14. In-depth knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques, preferable with large-scale projects.
15. Excellent written communication skills and be able to produce accurate technical reports.
16. A proactive attitude to managing your own time, finding solutions and ensuring that work is delivered on time and to the required standards.
17. Strong client relationship management and business development skills.
18. A full driving license, access to your own vehicle and be commutable to our office.
We’d be keen to know if you have (these are desirable, but not required):
19. Protected species licence (Great Crested Newt, Hazel Dormouse or bats etc.).
20. Mitigation licence experience.
21. A CSCS card.
22. Personal Track Safety (PTS) Qualified.
