Senior National Account Manager – Discounters
Cereal Partners Worldwide (Nestlé & General Mills) is seeking a Senior National Account Manager for our key discounter accounts. This is a field-based role in Welwyn within the Nestlé Cereal Partners Sales team. Salary, car allowance, potential bonus, plus 12 flexible days in addition to holiday entitlement and other benefits.
Position Summary
As a Senior National Account Manager for our discounter customers, you will identify specific business strategies for the customer, manage day-to-day relationships, and deliver the customer business plan. This is a high-profile, strategically important role to drive and accelerate our product portfolio for customers in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
* Negotiate customer terms to secure quality space and distribution; manage all negotiations and customer contacts for accounts/sub-accounts you are accountable for
* Develop a business plan for the customer estate in conjunction with the Business Unit Controller; identify opportunities to jointly improve margin, value sales and share position
* Review performance monthly against the Joint Business Plan, ensuring customer and CPUK volume, revenue and customer contribution objectives are delivered; recommend actions as appropriate
* Identify specific business strategies for the customer and analyse data to recommend actions to improve promotional efficiency, distribution, NPD launches and overall share of CPUK business
* Conduct regular business reviews with relevant customer contacts/stakeholders to develop effective relationships and identify opportunities to grow CPUK business
* Identify promotional efficiency improvements and produce an action plan with key deliverables for implementation; record and manage trade plan expenditure
* Build understanding of the customer's strategy, monitor competitor promotions, and adjust plans as appropriate
* Coordinate execution of promotional activity throughout the supply chain, ensuring stock availability and excellent in-store execution; manage pre and post evaluation to capture learnings
* Liaise with commercial colleagues to ensure Customer Plan supports overall CPUK commercial strategy; resolve APO conflicts with other customer plans
* Ensure the Customer Service team has all information needed to support excellent customer service
What Will Make You Successful
Proven experience in an FMCG customer-focused role (e.g., Sales, Customer Marketing, Category Management) with knowledge of working with key discounter accounts. Demonstrated success in sales, strong commercial acumen, and a focus on delivering results. Experience in complex negotiations leading to large contracts and winning new business. Ability to think strategically, be resilient, and influence both internally and externally.
* Self-starter with a positive can-do attitude; skilled in working with peers and leadership
* Proven delivery of KPIs, especially top and bottom-line results
* Experience managing customer investment plans to drive growth
* Established Key Account management skills focused on Joint Business Plans between the customer and Nestlé Cereal Partners
* Ability to analyse complex data, join the dots, and develop plans to address opportunities
* Understand the link between Supply, Category, Finance and Sales
