Why You Will Love this Job : Basic Function The Managing Director will be responsible for leading and managing the business, driving the organization to meet or exceed its growth and profitability objectives. In addition to providing strategic business leadership, he/she is responsible for administering policies for the business, maintaining a continual evaluation of business activities and initiating modifications as required, and providing the Group President with regular reports reflecting operational and plan performance. The Managing Director will develop and resource the business with qualified personnel and oversee day-to-day operations including product planning and development, engineering, quality, purchasing, inventory management, distribution, account management, customer support and service, and new venture evaluation and implementation. The Managing Director will focus on driving business improvement initiatives that optimize capacity, cost, quality, and customer service. He/she will also develop and implement strategies that lead to growth in sales, profits, market share, and return on capital employed. Responsibilities Develop and communicate a clear strategic vision for the UPS business aligned with overall Group objectives. Identify emerging market trends, technologies, and customer needs to inform long-term business strategy. Lead the development of strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances to expand market reach and capabilities. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all operational areas to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to ensure targets are met or exceeded. Champion innovation and lead cross-functional teams in the development of new products and solutions. Ensure the product portfolio remains competitive and aligned with customer requirements and industry standards. Oversee intellectual property strategy and ensure protection of proprietary technologies. Strengthen customer relationships through strategic account management and customer engagement initiatives. Lead efforts to expand into new markets and customer segments, both domestically and internationally. Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. Lead succession planning and talent development initiatives to build a strong leadership pipeline. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, environmental, and safety standards. Maintain strong corporate governance practices and ethical standards across the business. Represent the company in legal, regulatory, and industry forums as required. Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational agility and customer experience. Lead sustainability efforts, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing. Relationships and Contacts Supervisory Relationships Reports to President – Power Group. Supervisory responsibility: Directly supervises functional leaders of KUP including Hardware and Service Sales, Operations, Marketing, Human resources, Quality, and Engineering. UK, Ireland and Singapore Organizational Relationships – Corporate Frequent contact with Group CFO regarding financial results, forecasts, and business plans. Contact with Director – Human Resources, succession planning, talent management, and HR initiatives. Contact with Credit Department personnel regarding specific financial problems with customers. Contact with Corporate Technical Services, Purchasing, Human Resources, Communications, Legal, Employee Relations on relevant issues. External Business Relationships Contact with customers. Contact with suppliers. Attendance at trade shows, exhibitions, seminars, and sales meetings. Contact with a wide variety of business leaders and active membership in professional societies and industrial associations. Contact with candidates for key positions during the interview process. Education and Experience Requirements An undergraduate degree, preferably in Engineering or a related technical discipline. A post graduate degree in Business Administration ( MBA ) is highly desirable. Must have a proven track record of success as a business leader in a global, engineered product manufacturing company. Experience must include substantial profit and loss accountability; international business exposure; multi-region responsibility; management of a business producing marketing, selling and installing engineered products and systems; and successful leadership of a sales and marketing organization. Experience of development and management of an Equipment Service business is critical.
