Academics are looking for a Behavioural Support Assistant to join fantastic SEN schools in Huddersfield.
This rewarding role is perfect for someone who is patient, empathetic, and dedicated to supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs (SEMH). As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you'll work closely with teaching staff to promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities of a Behavioural Support Assistant:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with behavioural or emotional difficulties.
Implement individual behaviour support plans and use de-escalation strategies effectively.
Encourage and model positive behaviour and resilience.
Support teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel safe and supported.
Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support for each pupil.Requirements of a Behavioural Support Assistant:
Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs (in school or care settings).
Understanding of autism, ADHD, trauma-informed practice, or other additional needs.
Calm, confident, and nurturing approach to managing challenging behaviour.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
