About Easthorpe School
Welcome to Easthorpe School, an independent specialist provision dedicated to serving children and young people in the East Midlands. Since opening our doors in November 2022, we have been committed to providing a nurturing environment for pupils who may live with their families, foster carers, or in residential children's homes.
As we expand our team to accommodate the growing number of pupils in our Lower School (ages 7-13), we invite experienced teaching assistants to join us in shaping the future of our new provision. With class sizes capped at six pupils, each classroom is supported by a qualified teacher and up to two teaching assistants.
Our focus is on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH), as well as various diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and more. This is a fantastic opportunity to enrich the lives of our pupils and make a meaningful impact!
Your Role and Responsibilities
* Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils.
* Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
* Report on pupils' progress and concerns, collaborating with other staff to meet their needs.
* Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
* Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
* Set work where appropriate and provide marking support.
* Build positive relationships with your pupil(s) to drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.
What We’re Looking For
* A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
* Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
* Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
* Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas such as Food Hygiene, Forest School, or School Yoga.
* Experience in behavior management techniques.
* A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
* Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to starting work.
What We Offer You
* A workplace that prioritizes the emotional health and wellbeing of everyone, including you!
* Support for your professional development through a variety of opportunities.
* The chance to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children who deserve high-quality teaching in a safe environment.
* A friendly and inclusive team passionate about improving pupil outcomes.
Join us in making a difference! We encourage interested applicants to visit our school for a tour and to meet our Headteacher. Together, let’s create a brighter future for our pupils!
