Overview
Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Haematology & Transfusion. This fixed-term post is for 6 months to support the Haematology & Transfusion service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties / Responsibilities
* Perform a range of scientific procedures involving the processing of biomedical specimens to contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and investigation of pathological processes.
* Work within professional standards expected of a registrant of the Health Professions Council (HPC) and maintain a portfolio of evidence supporting Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Conform to agreed standard operating procedures, policies and good laboratory practice; comply with standards as required of UKAS and other relevant professional and legislative bodies (e.g. H.T.A., B.S.Q.R.).

* BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
* HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist
* Subject experts in Haematology & Transfusion
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Experience – Essential criteria
* Experience of automated and manual laboratory investigations and procedures in Haematology & Transfusion
* Experience of working flexible shifts
* Experience in Specialist Science (minimum 5 years)
Experience – Desirable criteria
* General familiarity with common computer software (Microsoft Office)
* Experience with analysing and reporting EQA reports
